This weekend, the Danish Formula 4 Championship will be decided at FDM Jyllandsringen, and STEP Motorsport’s Julius Dinesen arrives at the track with a 20-point lead over second place. This sets high demands for the preparations.
It will undoubtedly be a nerve-wracking final weekend, where the championship will most likely be decided on the last lap of the final race. The competition is intense, and there is no room for error for Julius Dinesen.
-Fortunately, I have a reasonable lead, but my focus will be to finish ahead of Gravlund in the races so that he doesn’t catch up with me further, says Julius Dinesen, who made his debut in the Spanish Formula 4 Championship over the weekend. He feels ready for the challenge and will do everything to secure the title:
-It has been a long time since I have spent so much time in a race car as I have in the past month. I have warmed up well and feel ready to give it my all with the team so we can secure that championship!
So far this year, STEP Motorsport has been spared from technical issues, but the team has naturally ramped up preparations ahead of the final weekend, where so much is at stake:
-We have been lucky that our preparations throughout the season have kept the cars running without significant challenges, but with a final race like the one we are facing, it is extra important that Julius is not hindered by technical problems on the track, says Morten Dons, who is pleased with the level of this year’s championship:
-It has already been a fantastic season. There has been racing at a high level and with respect for each other. Regardless of who ends up with the championship, it will be a driver who deserves the title – but I’m still putting my money on Julius, he laughs.
Victor T. Nielsen has been gaining more and more speed in the car throughout the season and has established himself as a strong contender for a race win in the recent races. The North Jutland teenager performed well at the Summer Race at FDM Jyllandsringen, so perhaps he will break through during the final weekend. This would position him well in the battle for third place in the championship – and at the same time, it would help his teammate Dinesen’s championship hopes.
-Victor has shown steady improvement every race weekend this year, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he can take advantage of the battle between the two championship contenders to secure a good result or two. He doesn’t always make a lot of noise, but that can certainly be his great advantage on a weekend like this, says Morten Dons.
All three heats of the weekend’s final will be run on Sunday, and the STEP Motorsport tent will be filled with guests who can celebrate the end of a fantastic season on Sunday afternoon.
