STEP Motorsport hopes for a trophy-filled conclusion to debut season in the Danish Endurance Championship at Padborg Park.
In many ways, it has been a successful first season in Danish motorsport for the talent team. With a race car that faces challenges in raw acceleration compared to its nearest competitors, the team has achieved two podium finishes this year. In the season finale this weekend, the hope is to turn two into three.
-We knew that we weren’t coming with a car that could win races purely on speed. However, our theory that skilled drivers in a well-balanced race car can achieve great results has been confirmed on several occasions. Our drivers have developed well throughout the season, just as we expected, says Morten Dons, who can check off his first year as team manager in the DEC context.
This year’s final race needs to be executed in the same fine manner as the previous one, where the team secured yet another third place. The challenge is tangible, but Silas Rytter is well-prepared:
-On paper, it’s straightforward; I know the track and the car, and I’ve driven here in warm, cold, dry, and wet conditions, so for me, it’s mostly about ensuring that I am physically and mentally ready when we hit the weekend. It sounds boring, but it’s great to feel prepared heading into the last weekend—not least because I will be visited by some of my sponsors on Sunday, says Silas Rytter.
