Aurelia Nobels makes her Danish Formula 4 debut with STEP Motorsport

22. June 2022

Victor T. Nielsen and Julius Dinesen are joined by the 15-year-old Belgian-American go-kart driver for the Summer Race at FDM Jyllandsringen.

After two successful race weekends in the Danish Formula 4 Championship, STEP Motorsport can briefly add a third driver to the team. With experience from both the European and World Karting Championships, Aurelia Nobels is not just any racer, and team manager Morten Dons is pleased to attract yet another talent to the team:

-Aurelia has been karting in Brazil and around the world since she was 10 years old and is one of the few female kart drivers at the absolute top level in her age group. She has already raced in a Formula 4 race in Brazil, and I’m glad she has chosen Denmark and STEP Motorsport to gain more experience with formula cars, he says.

In the five years that Aurelia Nobels has been competing, she has finished a third of her races in the top three. Last year, she tried her hand at a Formula 4 racer for the first time and has worked with former Formula 1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella. This weekend, the focus at Jyllandsringen will be for her to gain as much experience as possible:

-I’m really happy to have the opportunity to race in Denmark. This is only my second Formula 4 race, so my expectations are solely about learning and developing. It will be a big challenge for me since I won’t have the chance to practice on the track before the first training session—so I have 20 minutes to get to know the track before qualifying, says STEP Motorsport’s new driver.

An extra car has been prepared in a short time for the weekend, and Morten Dons looks forward to seeing the three drivers collaborate to get the best out of the race:

-The good thing about Formula 4 is that there’s room for our drivers to learn from and with each other. Victor and Julius have already learned a lot in the first two races, and I’m confident that Aurelia will also feel at home with us. We certainly look forward to welcoming her and her family, says Dons.

Before the weekend, things are looking promising for the West Jutland racing team. Julius Dinesen has taken the lead in the Formula 4 Championship, while Victor T. Nielsen has shown that both speed and the hunger for trophies are present, despite technical challenges in the previous race. At Jyllandsringen, both will fight for every position, as the Formula 4 Championship has become competitive this year.
