The Copenhagen top driver is taking another season in the formula championship to build experience before heading abroad.
The 17-year-old race driver also participated in the championship last season, finishing in third place. Ahead of the 2024 season, the goal is clear: to win the Danish Championship. And this will happen together with STEP Motorsport:
-Throughout the season, I have experienced STEP Motorsport as a competitor, and it has been clear that they have both a strong technical foundation and a commercial understanding that supports the goals I have for the 2024 season. This will be a season where I will build knowledge and experience so that I am strong in 2025 when I expect to compete in a European championship, says Mathias Bjerre Jakobsen, who has several heat victories and podium finishes from 2023.
Earlier this year, Mathias Bjerre Jakobsen entered into a management agreement with STEP Sports Management, and although participating in Nordic 4 was not part of the original plan, team manager Morten Dons is pleased to have the Copenhagen driver on the team:
-We initially focused on competing abroad but quickly agreed that another season at home could be beneficial to refine his driving technique and work even more closely with Mathias than would be possible abroad. This also means that we have a driver who has already learned the essential things and is ready to go straight for the championship in 2024. It won’t be easy if the level is the same as this year, but both Mathias and the entire team are ready to work hard, says Morten Dons.
Mathias Bjerre is the third driver in STEP Motorsport’s 2024 lineup, which also includes debutants Sebastian Bach and British Emily Cotty.
