STEP Motorsport and Victor T. Nielsen are preparing for another Swedish race weekend as the Formula 4 field heads to Gelleråsen Arena for the third round of the championship.
At a racetrack that is largely unknown territory for the North Jutland racer, the goal this weekend is to aim high and bring home good results for the championship. The lead-up hasn’t been optimal, but the belief in achieving good results remains strong:
-We had the opportunity for one test day at Gelleråsen, where we struggled with an electrical issue in the car. It was certainly positive that the problem didn’t arise during a race weekend, but Victor didn’t get the training on the track that we had hoped for, says team manager Morten Dons, who, after the Anderstorp weekend, doesn’t view the lack of training as a problem:
-There were no training opportunities at Anderstorp, and Victor quickly got up to speed on the track there, so I know he can do the same at Gelleråsen. We come well-prepared to the track, and I know that Victor is determined to deliver a good result for us to take into the summer break.
The 2.350-kilometer Gelleråsen is somewhat reminiscent of the Danish tracks, but the corners are longer and faster. It provides valuable training for the young drivers, and Morten Dons looks forward to seeing the impact of the two foreign trips when the season continues in Denmark:
-From my own active career, I know that the Danish tracks became easier to master once I had been out on some of the faster and more challenging tracks abroad. It is really beneficial for the drivers’ development to get out and try something different, and it will be exciting to see the level when we return to Denmark.
The races will be held, as in Anderstorp, alongside the Swedish Formula Nordic field. This means that there will be up to 25 drivers on the grid when the Gelleråsloppet takes place this weekend.
