Victor T. Nielsen and STEP Motorsport achieved three podium finishes out of three possible when the third round of the Danish Formula 4 Championship took place at Gelleråsen Arena in Sweden.
In the midst of exam season and following a few days of illness leading up to the race weekend, it was still a prepared driver from North Jutland who, with minimal preparation, tackled a challenging weekend. As the fifth-fastest driver in qualifying, there was potential for improvement in Sunday’s three races.
And improvement came. After a dramatic start to the first heat, the race was restarted, and with an explosive start, Victor moved up to second place in the field. Despite several attempts from behind, it was still the North Jutland driver who could secure his best result of the year so far.
The solid performance continued in both the second and third heats, where Victor T. Nielsen, with a stable effort, managed to bring home two third places while his competitors had their struggles.
Thus, Victor can now take a summer break from the Formula 4 Championship in third place, which suits the teenager well:
-I think it has been quite a reasonable weekend. The car has performed really well, and even though I’ve lacked a bit of speed, I’ve been able to earn important points in the championship. It feels good — but it also requires us to give it our all when the season starts again, says Victor T. Nielsen.
As a team, the core task is to provide a competitive car and competent guidance, and the team manager is pleased to have succeeded in this:
-We are halfway through the season, and we have reached this point without a single technical defect. I am glad that our preparations have paid off and that Victor knows he has a piece of equipment he can work with, says Morten Dons, continuing:
-Victor has done a stable job this weekend with three podium finishes, so now we are all working hard to claim the top step of the podium when we return to the tracks after the summer break. That’s the last piece that’s missing now.
