After several successful years in karting, the time is almost here for Silas Rytter to take the next step in his career. The teenager from Northern Jutland has entered into a collaboration with STEP Sports Management to advance his motorsport journey.
There are several options on the table for the 2021 season, where Silas will continue with karting while also planning to familiarize himself with real racing cars. If the race calendar permits, he will participate in the Danish Endurance Championship in STEP Sports Management’s Ginetta G40 GT5 racer.
In that case, Silas Rytter will be one of two drivers in the car, which is driven by former European Le Mans Series race winner Morten Dons. Although the task of driving the car will be a new and exciting challenge, a tailored training program off the track will also significantly shape 2021.
“I am pleased that Silas has chosen to take the next step in his career with us. Silas has delivered impressive results during his karting time, both on Danish and international karting tracks, and when we had him in the car for a test day earlier this year, he showed a great understanding of the car—and a professional approach to his work,” says Morten Dons, continuing:
“The whole purpose of our project in the Danish Endurance Championship is to mature young racing drivers like Silas for an international career in motorsport. Driving the car is only a small part of building a career—the rest is about understanding the industry, creating a financial foundation, and managing marketing and PR. These are the areas that Silas will seriously work on throughout the year.”
And while much will focus on off-track activities, the goal remains the same: STEP Sports Management’s Ginetta G40 GT5 should perform well on Danish tracks.
“We don’t necessarily have to win, but the goal is for both the drivers and the team to develop positively every time we are on the track. If we do that, there should also be trophies in sight during the season.”
Silas Rytter looks forward to kicking off a strong 2021 season, where he will both tackle new challenges and continue in his familiar path:
“I tested with STEP at Padborg Park earlier this year, and it was a great experience. Morten Dons was good at teaching me how to operate the car, and he did a lot to help me learn everything,” says Silas Rytter, who sees significant advantages in preparing for an international career on Danish asphalt:
“It’s going to be an exciting season, where I can continue with karting at a high level while also starting to work professionally towards the next step in my career. I’m glad that it’s possible to learn from one of the best without having to travel to the other side of the world,” says Silas Rytter.
