Giving our drivers the best tools to progress
Achieving success as a professional racing driver takes more than just talent. Motorsport is one of the toughest sports to succeed in, requiring hard work, networking, and a deep understanding of the industry to make the plan a reality.
STEP Motorsport was founded with the aim of helping tomorrow’s talents find their way into the world of motorsport. Our expertise comes directly from international racetracks and—equally important—the journey to get there.
Our athletes work with purpose to reach the goals we’ve set together. This includes physical and technical training, as well as dedicated efforts on social media and business development.
It’s not about trophies and championships in the short term—over time, the skills and experience gained can be the deciding factors when the most sought-after seats become available.
Dearly earned experience benefits young drivers on their way forward
Morten Dons has experienced success, setbacks, and everything in between during his 20 years in motorsport. From working multiple part-time jobs as a teenager to fund tires and fuel for his go-kart, to managing a successful sponsorship network and coming within millimeters of securing a spot at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The experiences and lessons from this intense and unforgiving career path have given him invaluable insights to advise and support the next generation of racing drivers on their journey to international motorsport.
Highlights from Morten’s Racing Career:
2012: Formula Ford Denmark – 2nd Place
2013: Ginetta GT5 Challenge Sweden – 1st Place
2014: British GT (GT4) – Team Championship with Century Motorsport
2015: European Le Mans Series – LMP3 Victory at Imola
2017: Road to Le Mans – Support Race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans
2018: Factory Driver, Radical Sports Cars
2019: Factory Driver, Revolution Race Cars
I didn't have a large network or experienced mentors to support me when I fought my way towards a professional career. If I had, I would undoubtedly have saved a lot of money and sleepless nights – and maybe even have more trophies on the shelf today.
It is my mission to use my experiences and my network to help other racing drivers achieve their professional goals – without taking a huge detour.Morten Dons
We take care of our athletes
We don’t need to tell you that motorsport is expensive, and that only a few have the opportunity to make it to the top without external financial support. Those are the terms of the industry.
That’s also why we always strive to help our athletes seek opportunities that offer the most value for money. It requires the ability to navigate a narrow and challenging industry if you want to stand out from the crowd and secure the right offer.
For Malthe Jakobsen, the partnership with STEP Motorsport has played a crucial role in helping him transition from Danish Formula 4 champion to a Le Mans debut and a factory drive with Team Peugeot TotalEnergies in less than six years.
Morten and STEP have been an important part of my support system since I won the Danish Formula 4 Championship in 2019. His advice and commercial understanding have enabled me to take different paths than many others at several points – and that has yielded results.
Had I not had Morten and the rest of my support team around me, I definitely wouldn't have come this far in such a short time. Both I and my parents have greatly benefited from sparring with Morten throughout my journey towards professional motorsport. I would recommend everyone to build a strong team around them – Morten and STEP Motorsport are a great choice for such a team.Malthe Jakobsen - 2025 Team Peugeot TotalEnergies FIA WEC Driver
