It requires full focus when Julius Dinesen and Victor T. Nielsen compete for STEP Motorsport in this weekend’s round of the Danish Formula 4 Championship at Ring Djursland.
The short and hilly racetrack is subject to strict environmental regulations and therefore does not allow practice sessions outside of race weekends. As a result, both Julius Dinesen and Victor T. Nielsen will take to the track on Saturday morning without having completed even a single lap beforehand.
However, this does not intimidate the championship-leading Julius Dinesen. There are indeed other ways to prepare:
-It’s certainly not ideal, but it’s the same for everyone, so in that way, I’m not worried. We’ve watched a lot of onboard videos from previous seasons, and I’ve also been able to do quite a few laps in the simulator, so I already have a good feel for the track, says Julius Dinesen, who will defend his championship lead this weekend.
The new and unfamiliar territory isn’t the only challenge the two young rising stars can expect. This weekend, an extra heat will be run, providing a total of four opportunities to collect points for the championship – but the number of tires remains the same. And that’s with a weather forecast predicting temperatures over 25 degrees Celsius.
-There will be a lot for Julius and Victor to deal with this weekend. With an extra race and the heat, it will be a challenge to keep the rubber on the tires until the last heat. It’s a good challenge, and I’m sure both will gain valuable experience from it, says team manager Morten Dons about the weekend’s races.
On Saturday, practice, qualifying, and the first heat will take place, while Sunday will feature three heats in the Djursland summer.
