Mathias Bjerre Jakobsen plans his future with STEP Sports Management

25. October 2023

After a successful debut season in Formula 4, the Copenhagen racer is focused on a professional future.

To accelerate his future dreams, Mathias Bjerre Jakobsen has entered into a partnership with STEP Sports Management, which specializes in helping young race drivers towards a professional career. With thorough career advice, assistance in securing sponsorships, and marketing, Mathias Bjerre Jakobsen aims to establish himself as a professional racer over the coming years.

-I’m happy to collaborate with Morten and STEP Sports Management. We share a good vision for my future, and I know that Morten has the skills to help me advance in my career. There’s a lot I need to learn, especially about creating the finances to race, and I don’t believe there are better mentors for that than Morten Dons, says Mathias Bjerre Jakobsen.

Throughout the recently concluded season, the owner of STEP Sports Management, Morten Dons, has closely followed Mathias’s development, and he is pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate with the 17-year-old talent:

-Mathias has solid results from karting, and he quickly adapted to being competitive in formula cars. He has a healthy approach to building a career and is willing to fight to achieve his goals, so I strongly believe that together we can lay the foundation for a great career for Mathias, says Morten Dons, who was with Mathias Bjerre Jakobsen in Portugal on Monday to test a 450-horsepower LMP3 racer at RLR Msport.

The test drive was arranged in connection with the official European Le Mans Series Rookie Test, where young drivers get the opportunity to familiarize themselves with motorsport at the European top level.

However, the first step is to establish a long-term career plan for the young racer:

-Mathias has clearly demonstrated his talent, but his journey has only just begun. We are looking at where he can continue his development most effectively. At 17, he still has plenty of time to build a career, so our focus is to provide him with a solid foundation that prepares him for a long and successful career, says Morten Dons.

The specific plans for the 2024 season will be announced at a later date.
