Falkenberg Motor Circuit in Sweden hosts STEP Motorsport for the fifth round of the Nordic 4 Championship this weekend.
With Mathias Bjerre Jakobsen competing for the championship lead and Sebastian Bach at the front of the Rookie Championship, there’s no room for a slow weekend. Preparations have been underway since the team returned from Ring Djursland, ensuring that all cars are optimally prepared for the weekend. While none of the drivers have experience with the Swedish track, they will benefit from the team manager’s own experiences: -Even though it’s been a few years, I remember it clearly. There aren’t many corners, but it’s a track that requires you to find a good flow and be ready to take the chances that arise, explains Morten Dons, who won his first race on the track in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge. However, this doesn’t raise the expectations for the drivers: -I know that the drivers have done everything they can to be as well-prepared as possible—but it’s a tough field in Nordic 4 this year, so a bit of luck will be needed if we want to secure a win. Still, I expect our drivers to be among the frontrunners, he adds.
At first glance, Falkenberg appears to be a very simple racetrack, but the elevation changes and combination of turns mean that it takes a skilled racer to get the most out of the weekend’s three races. It’s a great challenge for the four racers from STEP Motorsport: -It’s different from the tracks we’ve raced on before. Here, they need to hit the corners just right, or it could cost them the entire lap. It’s really good training, and I’m looking forward to seeing them grow with the challenge, says the team manager. The action kicks off Friday morning with practice, while the races will take place on Saturday and Sunday. Fans can follow the races live on YouTube.
