The talents are ready for new learning as STEP Motorsport concludes the summer break and participates in the fourth round of the Danish Endurance Championship at Padborg Park this weekend.
If it weren’t for a couple of eager young racing talents, the summer break in the DEC championship would have felt endless. However, both Silas Rytter and Mads Riis have spent the summer maintaining their fitness and pace in both go-karts and race cars. Therefore, there’s not much need to shake off any rust ahead of this weekend’s race.
Still, a slight adjustment will be necessary. Due to a busy schedule for Mads Riis, the two drivers will each complete a full race distance this weekend; Mads Riis will drive the entire race on Friday, while Silas Rytter will take on the full distance on Saturday.
-Even though Silas has already driven one race weekend alone and Mads has plenty of racing experience, it requires a different level of preparation to drive twice as far as usual, both physically and mentally. We’re fully prepared for this, and I expect both of them to enjoy the opportunity to drive their respective races from start to finish, says Morten Dons, team principal of STEP Motorsport.
For Silas Rytter, it will be particularly interesting to return to the small Ginetta G40 GT5. In early August, he participated in a race in the British Ginetta GT5 Challenge at the Snetterton circuit, and the experiences gained there should ideally lead to even better driving – also on the shorter Danish tracks.
-It has always been part of the plan for Silas to go to England and test himself on a different circuit and in a much tougher field. I think he did a really great job and made significant progress during that weekend, so I look forward to seeing what that has contributed to his overall performance, says Morten Dons.
This weekend’s races will take place on Friday and Saturday, and the races will be shown live on YouTube: https://youtube.com/supergtdanmark.
