STEP Motorsport makes race debut in the border region

17. June 2021

After a Successful Debut Race in the Danish Endurance Championship (DEC) at Ring Djursland, STEP Motorsport is Ready for a Hot Weekend at Padborg Park.

With top 5 finishes in the first round of the DEC championship at Ring Djursland, there is already proof that the small Ginetta G40 GT5 has its place in Class 2 of the DEC series. However, the challenge will be greater at Padborg Park, explains team manager Morten Dons:

-While Ring Djursland suits our car well due to its short straights and technical corners, Padborg Park favors the more powerful cars. This means we will face some challenges, but on the other hand, I believe we can make our Hankook tires last longer because the car is so light. But it’s hard to say—especially with the forecasted temperatures, it’s impossible to predict, he says.

For this weekend’s race, Silas Rytter will be the only driver in the car, as Mads Riis has chosen a new direction for his season. This gives the northern Jutland karting profile more driving time—which Morten Dons believes will be a healthy challenge for Rytter.

-Silas did really well in the car at Ring Djursland, and the combination of more driving time and high temperatures will require both physical and mental preparation if we are to get the most out of the races. In relation to his long-term goals, it’s also good for him to get acquainted with some of these factors, as this won’t be the last time he faces a tough day at work, says Morten Dons.

The races in the Danish Endurance Championship will be streamed for free on youtube.com/supergtdanmark.
