With talent development as the primary goal, STEP Sports Management has acquired a Ginetta G40 GT5 for the 2021 season in the Danish Endurance Championship, featuring young racing talents behind the wheel.
Behind STEP is Morten Dons, who himself benefited from the Ginetta G40 as part of his journey to the top of European motorsport. In 2013, he won the Swedish Ginetta GT5 Challenge in a car just like it, so he didn’t hesitate to invest in the vehicle when the opportunity arose.
“Actually, it wasn’t my plan to become a team owner, but when DEC opened up a G40 class for the upcoming season, it just made a lot of sense. I am passionate about developing talents and helping them on their way to an international career, and there isn’t a better training tool than this car,” Morten Dons explains.
Unlike most racing teams, Morten Dons and STEP Sports Management do not plan to simply sell seats in the race car. In addition to the six race weekends in the DEC season, the team’s two upcoming drivers will be part of STEP Academy, where they will be trained to navigate professional motorsport.
“Of course, we will come with a car and a team that can deliver solid results. Furthermore, my ambition is for our drivers to use the season to learn the fundamentals necessary to succeed in the sport. We will work on physical fitness, mental preparation, and not least PR and media, which play an increasingly important role. This way, a season on the Danish racetracks can provide a lot of valuable experience for their future careers,” Dons states.
Efforts are underway to have the car ready for the DEC championship when it visits FDM Jyllandsringen on September 5-6. Interested drivers can contact Morten Dons for information about the opportunities available.

STEP Sports Management is also holding a test day at Padborg Park on August 19, where interested drivers can try out the car. For further information, contact Morten Dons at phone number 40 96 07 00 or email info@stepsportsmanagement.com.
