Talent obliges: Mikkel Njor wants to go abroad

8. April 2022

In 2020, he was named Rally Talent of the Year by the Danish Automobile Sports Union. The following year, he received the title of DASU Talent of the Year. Now, Mikkel Njor has set his sights on foreign rally competitions as his next destination.

The prestigious awards have helped the 22-year-old rally driver to establish a new project. Starting in 2023, the rest of Europe will truly hear about Njor from Denmark:

-I am very humbled by the awards I have won over the past few years, and the trust that DASU and Danish motorsport fans have shown me has motivated me to aim higher than ever before, Mikkel Njor says about his new project.

In 2023, the plan is to participate in the FIA European Rally Championship with a Rally2 car. This means that this season will involve more time behind a desk than strapped in behind the wheel of a rally car:

-I have initiated a collaboration with STEP Sports Management to get professional help to break into the international motorsport scene. Setting up a European project requires a significant effort, and therefore my focus will also largely be on creating the financial foundation before next year, says Mikkel Njor.

So far, Mikkel Njor plans to participate in a few races counting towards the Danish Championship as well as in one or more rally sprints.

For STEP Sports Management, the collaboration with Mikkel Njor means more than just a new business venture:

-Although I have always focused on circuit racing during my active career, I have always been a huge fan of rally and the intensity it requires to be competitive. Mikkel is a skilled rally driver, and he also has both vision and the will to fight for his goals – so I am very excited to work towards his first European Championship season, says Morten Dons, owner of STEP Sports Management.
